Our Story

IIDA is the commercial interior design association with global reach. We support design professionals, industry affiliates, educators, students, firms, and their clients through our network of 15,000+ members across 58 countries.

We advocate for advancement in education, design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach to increase the value and understanding of interior design as a profession that enhances business value and positively impacts the health and well-being of people’s lives every day.

The IIDA North Florida Chapter is the local voice of organization. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life through excellence in design and to advance Interior Design as a profession. The Chapter has two City Centers, located in Jacksonville and Gainesville. City Center programs include continuing education, government and regulatory affairs, student events, socials, charitable events, and member-only functions.

History

Global Network

Community

IDA was founded in 1994 as the result of a merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD); the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID); and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID). The goal of the merger was to create an international association with a united mission that would represent interior designers worldwide. Since that date, IIDA has worked to convene communities of interior designers across regions and specialties representing the interests of the entire community.

The International Interior Design Association offers a network for design professionals worldwide. With over 15,000 members across 58 countries, the organization's outreach is expansive and diverse. IIDA provides members with the sources to attain expertise, knowledge and contacts. As a member of IIDA you will be connected to design professionals through philanthropic events, continuing education opportunities, open discussion and relevant research. Begin your Membership journey today.

IIDA membership provides you a support network that connects you to peers, clients, and educators while offering you the opportunity to advance your career. Chapters and City Centers are the visible strength of our Association, and their networking events allow professionals to connect on more personal levels that encourage trust, collaboration, and innovation. Use your contacts as leverage in seeking out opportunities and solidifying partnerships. The people you interact with form a microcosm of the Design World.
